September town centre update

Here’s an update about what the town centre beat managers have been up to since our August post:

- A woman was arrested following two thefts from shops in the marketplace. The stolen items were seized, returned to the store, and the woman was presented to court.

- Two teenagers were located and searched in relation to a shop theft, and two expensive coats, reported as stolen, were recovered.

- One woman was arrested and later charged with threatening behaviour and resisting a constable in the execution of duty, following a reported assault.

- A man was charged with outraging public decency and common assault for an incident on King Street. He appeared at court and was handed a fine and suspended prison sentence.

- Two people were stopped after being identified by a store for shop theft the previous day on Regent Road. A community resolution was issued.

- One Criminal Behaviour Order has been issued and four others enforced; two people were arrested for breaching their orders, one woman was charged with five separate breaches, and one man received a prison sentence after appearing in court for breaching his order

- A privately owned e-scooter was spotted being used and seized. Reminder, the use of private e-scooters on public land is illegal

- Dedicated patrols of King Street and Regent Road have also taken place with words of advice issued to delivery drivers and vehicles contravening the road signage around access times on Regent Road.

- A vehicle was spotted parking illegally on King Street and when documents were checked, the driver didn’t have a licence. The car was seized

- Joint working with GY Borough Council's street enforcers continue around the Town Centre, King Street, Regent Road and St Georges Park, with information gathered at all locations.

This is a summary of just some of the work completed in and around the Great Yarmouth town centre by officers in our neighbourhood policing team during the last month.
